THERMOCOUPLES
STANDARD INSULATION OR MINERAL OXIDE INSULATION THERMOCOUPLES
Thermocouples are a widely used type of temperature sensors and are used to convert termal potential difference into elecric potential difference.
It consists of two dissimilar metals, joined together at one end (hot junction). When the junction of the two metals is heated or cooled, a voltage is produced that can be correlated back to the temperature (Seebeck effect).
They are interchangeable, have standard connectors and can measure a wide range of temperatures.
Thermocouples are usually selected to ensure that the measuring equipment does not limit the range of tempertatures that can be measured.
