THERMORESISTANCES

STANDARD INSULATION OR MINERAL OXIDE INSULATION

Resistance termometers, also called Resistance Temperature Detectors (RTD’s), are temperature sensors that exploit the predictable change in electrical resistance of some materials with changing temperature.

Well-known RTD are the Pt100 and Pt1000, made of platinum, with the resistance at 0°C of 100Ω and 1000Ω.

There are two different RTD’s categories:

  • Tin film RTD
  • Platinum wire RTD

According to IEC 751, the Pt100 are classified by the following temperature tollerance:

  • Pt100 Class A ±0,15 °C [0 °C] ±0,06 Ω [0 °C]
  • Pt100 Class B ±0,30 °C [0 °C] ±0,12 Ω [0 °C]
